Weekly Crime Blotter

As we approach the summer months, I feel it necessary to begin a Weekly Crime Blotter.  Most are familiar with this as it is used by the majority of agencies across the country.  We are growing in Anna and as the city grows, so does the crime.  On a good note, our neighborhood watch groups are becoming more active and we are getting more neighborhoods on board.  If you are not already an active member of your crime watch, I would recommend that you become a member.  Taking this step helps ensure the safety of your neighborhood and also assists the police department in solving crime problems.  If you are in a neighborhood that does not currently have an active crime watch and would like to start one, please go to the police department’s website and click on the “Neighborhood Watch” icon.

A 12 year old female resident in the 1300 block of Oak Hollow was taken into custody for assaulting her mother over “doing her chores” @ approx. 1:00PM on April 20.  The juvenile female suspect began to throw things around the residence after refusing to obey her mother’s orders to complete chores.  One of the items thrown about struck the mother causing her “pain” and the 12 year old was taken to Collin County Juvenile Detention for assaulting a family member.

A female resident of the 500 Block of Hilltop Drive reported that someone had used her identity to open an account and make charges at a business identified as “Moon Tans.”  The victim advised that she opened no account and that her maiden name was used to open the credit.  A report was filed and there are no suspects in the case.

The stop of a suspicious vehicle at approx. 3:30 PM on April 22 led to a Possession of Marijuana arrest near the Anna Mobile Home Park on Hwy 5.  An 18-year-old white male resident of Sherman was arrested when Anna Patrol Officers found on or about his person a quantity of marijuana during the stop.  Justin Newby of Sherman was charged with possessing less than 2 ounces of marijuana, a class B Misdemeanor.

An Anna Police Officer, backed by a Van Alstyne Police Officer, served a felony probation revocation warrant at the Anna Mobile Home Park.  Olin Foster, W/M/38 was arrested on outstanding warrants from Dallas County.  The arrest was made without incident and the suspect was booked into the Collin County Jail on April 22 @ 9:30 AM.

A residence in the 500 block of Creekside Drive was reportedly burgled while the resident was home on April 25 @ 8:45 AM.  The resident reported that while she was in another room of her house, she heard her alarm beep, signaling the opening of a door.  She investigated and discovered that the back door was standing open and several jewelry boxes were strewn about in the bedroom.  Only one ring was reported missing along with some prescription painkillers.  Officers were on scene quickly and the neighborhood was canvassed.  No witnesses were located; no suspects identified.

Anna Police detained two Hispanic male subjects for riding a go-cart on the public roadway (CR 365 and 366 intersection) on April 26 @ about 1:30 PM.  After being warned for violating the traffic laws governing the operation of unauthorized vehicles on the roadway, a warrant check was performed on the occupants.  Both of the subjects were found to have multiple outstanding warrants.  Jose L Cruz and Antonio Villarreal were arrested for the warrants out of McKinney and Tarrant County and transported to Collin County jail.

On April 26 @ about 2:30 AM, a female resident on Roseway in the Anna Mobile Home Park reported to Anna Police that an unknown Hispanic male had broken into her trailer through the front door and when she woke up, he was touching her.  The suspect spoke only Spanish to her and she reports that he verbalized his intent to sexually assault her.  The victim’s children were at home at the time and were awakened by the suspect’s presence.  The suspect then fled through the front door.  He is described as being about 5’8” tall, weighing approx. 180 lbs, and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and a gray and white bandana over his face.  The investigation continues.
